ADVENTURES IN ART
Pan
This patron wanted a piece to reflect her inner self without it being a portrait.
She sees fairies, other worlds and is very attuned to nature.
I put Pan as the focus since he is a God of Nature.
It is he who is the guardian and the bridge between this world and the little people.
Seasons
This complex piece was commissioned by a guy who wanted the history and future
of mankind to be told using a bard as the story teller.
I used the medicine wheel concept with Nature surrounding the story because it is
Nature who has always made the rules.
Red Shift
This band wanted a Daliesque theme to promote the name Ear Candy.
I finished the artwork then they found that Ear Candy was already in use.
I then put a panel on the bottom and put in their new name, Red Shift.
It was a challenging and fun to do and ended up as a nice piece of fine art.
Japanese Cranes
My niece recently got married and wanted a painting as a wedding gift.
She and her husband are into all things Japanese and requested something
Oriental and minimalist. They sent lots of samples, and though I'm good at
copying and imitating, I'm not Japanese and it felt wrong.
So I used the beautiful Japanese Cranes which are living works of art.
They symbolized marital fidelity, longevity and happiness ... perfect!
Wind Seeker
This gentleman was fascinated by first nations art and spirituality. He believes his
totem is the eagle. I used the yin yang symbol to unite this dimension and the world of spirit.
A Steel Maiden
This is an excellent example of the power that can be found in a ballpoint pen.
Portrait
I found that I'm very good at stippling. What I can't reproduce by any other method I
can achieve with lots of little dots. I work very quickly, and this drawing only took a day.
Myth Moth
This painting was done to tell the story of the realm of the Fairie and the ancient Gods.
Female on the left and male on the right, moving from the good aspects of those worlds,
down to the unsavory characters.
Portrait of a Friend
I don't usually do well with portraits, but in this case, because I was able to
work her into my impressions of her life, it came out just fine.
Blessed Friend
This picture was done for a lovely woman who wanted a relaxing and charming piece.
Since she is a Christian I used the dove and the pelican, both symbols of Christ.
The child is the symbol of innocence and purity and though I don't do well with "cute",
I'd say this one is better than cute.
